U.S. tire manufacturing has an annual economic footprint of $259.5 billion and is responsible for more than 329,527 U.S. jobs in manufacturing, distribution and retailing. The industry supports more than 606,477 additional U.S. jobs in supplier and induced activities, totaling more than 936,004 jobs nationwide. Together, these jobs support families, local businesses, and vital services across the country. The USTMA Tire Manufacturing Ambassador Program brings representatives from its 11 member companies to Washington, D.C. each year to highlight important issues for the U.S. tire manufacturing sector, focusing on economic impact, infrastructure and sustainability. The ambassadors, representing various fields in engineering, business, marketing and HR, share their expertise in discussions with congressional offices to share firsthand how legislation can affect their work and communities they call home.

Reducing Facility Emissions

USTMA tire manufacturing facilities primarily use natural gas, resulting in a lower greenhouse gas emission footprint compared to other manufacturing sectors. Tire manufacturers are also adopting various strategies and technologies to enhance energy efficiency and further reduce CO2 emissions, reflecting a long-term commitment to responsible production and improvement.
