USTMA Tire Manufacturing Ambassadors Reinforce Tire Industry Priorities to 118th Congress

June 12, 2024

WASHINGTON, June 12, 2024 – The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) is hosting a Capitol Hill fly-in from June 12-13 for its Tire Manufacturing Ambassadors to raise awareness on issues important to the U.S. tire manufacturing sector and the communities it serves. USTMA’s annual Ambassadors Program provides the opportunity to emphasize issues on industry economic impact, innovative infrastructure solutions and sustainability with policymakers.

“The U.S. tire manufacturing industry is vibrant and innovative delivering products that enable safe, sustainable mobility for our society, consumers and businesses. Our industry is an integral part of our nation’s economy, supporting more than 800,000 jobs across the country, from those in tire manufacturing plants to the tire dealers who sell and service our products to suppliers that provide raw materials and services,” said Anne Forristall Luke, USTMA President and CEO. “Our ambassadors represent the people who work in the industry every day, making them the best advocates to speak on the impact of tire manufacturing on our national economy and in our communities.”

Each Ambassador represents one of USTMA’s 12 member companies comprising a cross-section of industry expertise, ranging from engineering and business operations to marketing and human resources. They will visit Capitol Hill to engage with Congressional offices on measures to enhance road safety, tire innovation, environmental stewardship, domestic jobs in manufacturing and more. USTMA’s Ambassadors are members of the communities where they work and bring diverse first-hand perspectives on how various industry-related legislation impacts their work and communities.

USTMA sent a letter to congressional leadership in February, outlining the industry’s legislative priorities to address the evolving areas of tire safety, environmental stewardship, innovation and standardized access to vehicle data assets. UTSMA’s member companies operate 58 tire-related manufacturing facilities in 17 states. U.S. tire manufacturing has an annual economic footprint of $170.6 billion and is responsible for more than 291,000 U.S. jobs in manufacturing, distribution and retailing. The industry supports more than 510,000 additional U.S. jobs in supplier and induced activities.
