Chris Major is the Mold Design Group leader at Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing, Inc. in Bartow County, White, Georgia. He joined Toyo in 2005 when the plant first broke ground. He started in the Rubber industry in 1987 as a Designer for a large rubber mixer and extruder manufacturer, from there he moved into the Tire Industry with the initial responsibility of equipment design for the Manufacturing Group, later Chris joined the Mold Design Group and has enjoyed 28 years in this function.

Chris is committed to applying engineering principles to resolve mold-manufacturing issues, improve mold handling and maintenance processes within the plant, to ensure mold component accuracy, durability & product appearance. He has written and implemented many of his department’s process procedures and controlled forms to ensure repeatability through standardized practices. Chris demonstrates a Safety First priority for his group and team members throughout the factory. His group has had zero incidents/injuries in his time at Toyo Tire North America, Manufacturing Inc.

Chris graduated from Porter & Chester Institute for Engineering Design and also attended the University of New Haven for Mechanical Engineering until the passing of his wife forced him to re-evaluate. Chris is a firm believer in family first and his family needs have always come before his own.

Chris has enjoyed working with several tire manufacturing companies while moving his family east to west and west to east coasts over his career. He enjoys change and has had positive experiences working in different parts of the country, meeting new people and learning about different cultures and history within different regions of the United States.

Chris calls the New England area home. He has two daughters which he raised as a single parent from a very young age and both are currently attending college and working toward their undergraduate degrees in Business Management and Micro Biology.
